Don't get me wrong - its not a horrible school but I COULD NOT stay here for the next three years. The education from my experience was of much better quality than I expected. The course load is challenging and not much of my homework is "busy work." My professors have all been pretty decent, friendly, and available. The small class sizes are helpful. The library is pretty top notch. However, do NOT go to this school if you're looking for the stereotypical "college experience." You will never feel "so college" here! The majority of the school commutes to school so there is really no sense of community and it is difficult to make friends unless you dorm (which most people do not.) Even if you do dorm, there is nothing that goes on. Your social life will consist of visiting your friends a more standard university whenever time and money allow. Yes SXU is in Chicago, but its in Beverly. If you have a car or are willing to take the bus and metra downtown AND already have friends downtown I guess that could work but it would be nice to have fun on your own campus. |
