In my opinion this particular post-secondary institution is not a college at all. The skills taught can be gained by simply working in the career. A one year program has been stretched-out to two years to grab another years income for the college from unsuspecting farm families who send their children here. Present students and retired staff will tell you this. Furthermore, failed students will be pushed through by college administators to make sure everyone has a pleasant college experience. Marginal work is given inflated high marks to make it appear the student has accomplished exceptional learning when, in fact, it should be average or below average work. This ensures that the instructor is given high approval ratings by the students which ensures long-term employment. It's a great scam cooked up by crooked administrators and accountants. As one retired program coordinator said, "If the government knew that the college was pushing through students who had actually failed, they would lose the contract to teach the apprentiship program". |
