I was studying fashion at another campus but I had friends at LIM who I saw were already interning at places like Gucci and Teen Vogue and I wanted to get that same experience. LIM provides you with the BEST industry experience. I feel so much more prepared, mature, and professional when I go out in the workforce to intern, interview, or work because my school has taught me all the ins and outs. Compared to my friends who go to different schools and universities, my resume is 100 times more experienced. In my 2 years at LIM I've been able to complete 3 internships and 2 part time jobs. Some of my friends who go to other schools don't even know how to create a resume. Also, we always have speakers coming in from all different parts of the fashion industry and the connection opportunities are endless. Since we are a smaller school, faculty actually knows your name and who you are. Walking through the buildings I'm often greeted by old professors with a hug and "how are you doing?" If you put in the effort, you can have a great experience here. If you're passionate about fashion and business, I can't recommend going anywhere else besides LIM. The students can sometimes be snooty or egotistical but that's at any college you go to (trust me, I went to another college before and it was the same) There are a lot of genuine people you can meet here and in New York City to make your experience a good one. LIM truly is preparing me for the industry and had I gone to any other school, I know I wouldn't have felt the same way. |
