The general attitude of ESF towards the environment is good and the people there are often nice and fun to be around (aside form the many pot heads). However, I was greatly disappointed when it came to nearly everything about the academics. The coursework is not only difficult, but it is nearly impossible to do even for very good students. A student is better off reading and memorizing the book than going to class, because the professors don't teach everything they need to, not even close. The Professors are varied and while some are nice, most are very hard to reach and very cold. One that I had for my first two semesters was downright unstable, having mood swings in class and sending students crying from her office because they dared to be responsible and come to her with questions for clarification. Advising is a nightmare as students are left mostly on their own to make curriculum decisions. Advisers are most interested in getting you out of their office quickly, not in helping the students. Also, some classes are closed without notification to the students and opened later on, causing already stressed students to monitor their enrollment sheets for days at a time in the hopes that a class will open up.All in all this school care more about money and appearances then the mental and physical health of their students. Stay far away from this school if you value your sanity. |
