The students in the engineering department are (for the most part) cheating their way through every class, and the department won't enforce the no-cheating policies because the dean is a spineless politician. This is also a major dumping ground for other schools dropouts. I'd say 75-90% of the people in upper level classes are transfers from UofH who couldn't keep up at UH, and then transfer to PV (where they excel by cheating). The core classes are not available every semester, so you have to plan your schedules very carefully or you'll get stuck at PV for 5-7 years instead of the typical 4-5.The faculty is very apathetic towards the student body. The handful that do teach well, won't tech more than 1 class per semester, because they make more money doing research or administration than teaching. The rest just don't seem to care about the quality of education. (this is not true of all of them, but most of them). If you're just looking for a degree and don't really care about how you get it, this is the place for you. If you're trying to get the best education you can and you're not afraid of hard work, then I'd recommend heading to a better school (TAMU, UT, Ttech, etc.). |
