U of A - Fayetteville is a very average flagship state school. If you are driven to do well, you will do that. If you are a procrastinor/underacheiver, you will also succeed at that here. Excepting the honors college, there is not a lot of mentally stimulating interactions between students. Parking is expensive, horrible and will eventually cost you something at the hands of the ubiquitous parking police. On campus food is underwhelming. Dorms are okay, but off-campus housing is more expensive than it should be given the location (read: opportunistic landlords). Some programs are good (Supply Chain; Industrial Engineering; Education (esp. Physics); Nursing; English (fine arts/writing - i think) and honors college opportunities). If you have a penchant for disciplines outside that range, or if you can get into a better school and afford it, then I say, "go elsewhere". But, if you're a native Arkansan and plan to remain in the natural state, you could do a lot worse than U of A. |
