Professors simply don't teach well or don't teach at all. One of the most common phase they said a lot was, "You are computer engineers, right? I don't need to explain to you about that. You go figure it out yourself." This school ruined my life because they simply assuming that students know everything. My first year computer programming course (ECE 150) was ruined because professors assumed that student had all studied C++ in high school. And next year they assumed you know Java from coop experience. How wishful thinking is that? People who already knew C++ before year 1 tended to continuously doing well while those who left behind remained further behind. Thus, without good coop placement and a vicious cycle keeps continue. UW people are arrogant because of their professors. Computer Engineering students constantly been reminded that they are better than computer science (CS). And CS is better than science. And science is better than art department. And art department is better than York and Western. How ignorant? Is this a rebirth of university Nazism? |
