I was blown away by the aesthetic beauty of the campus, the prestige the university appeared to have, and the supposed "community" the campus offered. THESE ASSUMPTIONS COULDN'T HAVE BEEN FARTHER FROM THE TRUTH!!!!!!!The campus appears to be beautiful, but all of the "beauty" is really just a plastic front covering the crappy accommodations and crappy food. Additionally, Belmont constantly boasts how it is a "top-ranked" university; however, I found the material in most of my classes to be elementary. The program that was promised to me was actually not available. Additionally, I wanted to go to a private school for the prestige which is generally associated with them. However, I am now at the University of Tennessee, a public school, and the rankings at UT surpass all of those at Belmont. The coursework here is far more challenging and enjoyable. One of the things that most pissed me off about Belmont was the sense of friendship and community it boasted students would undoubtably find for I only found one good friend while I was there. I was even in a well-known sorority and the girls were super snobby and rude. In stark contrast, I transferred my membership to UT's sorority and I now have an understanding of how "sisters" are suppose to treat each other. I could honestly go on and on and on and on about how TERRIBLE Belmont was, but I'll end with this:DO NOT GO TO BELMONT UNIVERSITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That is unless, you solely enjoy sitting in your dorm room alone, bored, sad, and homesick. Belmont is a place where rich, underperforming kids go when they don't get into Vanderbilt. |
