My UWP Review: I was researching potential graduate schools, I read some of the reviews for my former home, and thought she needed a positive review. UW-Platteville was an excellent experience, and if I had to do it again, I would happily do so. Yeah, it might be easy to get in, but it is very challenging, and if you are willing to accept that challenge, you will find the professors to be on your side. As for the location, you might not believe it, but Platteville is a very small college town. Hopefully most people discover that while they are still conducting their college search, but some don't seem do so until they arrive on campus, sadly. Everyone who attends UWP made a choice to be there, so instead of complaining about how much other people drink and how little there is to do, maybe they can take a closer look at what they can do to make their experience the best it can possibly be. I believe that if I can come out of my shell and have an excellent college experience at UWP, than just about anyone can. Have a beer or 12 every now and then, make friends, get involved, put your best effort into your studies…stop complaining about the male/female ratio (it isn't that bad - see Michigan Tech), the "lack of culture" (a small-town college environment is unique…"culture"), and the abundance of partying/drinking. Don't be a quitter and leave town every weekend, because there is a good time to be had if you are open to it. On the culture front, UWP made me a better person and enabled me to have a successful career traveling the world as an engineer, working with teams of managers and technical experts in 10 different countries across four different continents. No matter where life takes me, I take immense pride in where I came from.Go Pioneers!!! |
