It's a nightmare - I can't even imagine where to begin. First, every undergrad has to take the 11 worthless core curriculum classes that are completely useless in our career paths (teachers say that those classes are extremely valuable for the very motivated and talented students but really it's just academic bullying - they are a complete waste of time and money that don't teach you anything in life - the worst part is EVERYONE enrolled in this "school" is required to take them!) The classes related to your major don't provide you with any type of training applicable to the real world. There are no research opportunities, internships, study abroad programs, teaching assistantships, nothing, absolutely nothing is provided in this school in terms of career opportunities! Only a few teachers out there may be able to help you find connections; most "professors" are adjuncts who go home right after class is over and don't even have office hours! Some of them can't even speak English fluently but still somehow got hired.

Then you have the students too who go directly home once class is over. No social life anywhere to be seen on and off campus. The surrounding area (East Flatbush) is simply the most ghetto neighborhood in central Brooklyn if it is not yet included in the top ten of all New York City! It's not only unpleasant, it's also dangerous to commute to this school at any given time of the day - people do get raped, beat up, and kidnapped all the time. As for safety, you should be safe if you go directly to the bus or the train (public transportation is amazing here - probably the only positive with outside appearance)

My advice - DON'T GO TO THIS SCHOOL AT ALL UNLESS YOU REALLY NEED TO!!!!!!!! - then I feel sorry for you. When you see Brooklyn College - run for your life, and do it FAST!!!!!!!! There is nothing to do there before and after class besides the library (which is actually very nice) and then home. The students out there care less. The classes out there are overcrowded if you are even lucky to get a spot; they are also filthy with mosquitos and roaches! Unbelievable - the girls at BC are just as disgusting as those bugs (but are also rude on top of it) - they look at me like I am crazy just because I say "hi" to them. Everybody just leaves - and then the employers wonder why I don't have that many extracurricular activities listed on my resume - well it's now easy to see. I tried to make the best of it, but sorry, it still s****!!!!!!! Soon they'll start accepting everybody who needs a degree, even those who can't read.
