Bad school for reasons that no longer need to be repeated. I will say though anyone who says there is stuff to do at school or that theres school spirit is full of it. Visit the school on a weekend, find it peculiar no ones outside and its a ghost town? everyone goes home. Clubs suck because most dont meet or dont meet regularly. Very dangerous city. There is a mental hospital 1/4 mile from campus called snowden and mentally ill people escape from there all the time; google this to verify, its happened several times already. Hobos and people begging on campus more often than I'd like. Just today students got an email that alarge black male escaped custody from fredericksburg policeand headed towards campus. Bomb threat at mcdonalds across the street. Shooting at tacobell also across the street. Highschooler falls out 5th floor window of dorm because he was given drugs. Getting robbed on campus, if i recall at knifes pint (google: student robbed on campus walk university of mary washington). Google the girl who was raped in the parking garage. Just google the # of sex offenders in a 1 mile radius…its terrifying.You can google all of that if you just type in the right key words and add university of mary washington to prove im not lying unlike these BS positive UMW reviews. Judging from the "take back the night" event sexual assault is very prevalent on this campus even though it is mostly women. I say this based just on the # of girls who had the courage to go up there and speak. The one thing they all had in common was that it sounded like the perpetrator got away every single time. I know a few girls who'd been a victim too. Its awful. The school will tell you to report it to them and that if you call the fred police they'll just direct you to campus police but dont do this, nothing gets done and it is my GUESS to protect the schools image so as not to scare away prospective students and to keep their sexual assault # low. Report it to the actual police and insist that they investigate that way something actually gets done. Most of the people i know who graduated are unemployed or working minimum wage jobs too. I didnt know liberal arts degrees sucked until i gooogled it.This isn't a school, its a business and they sell themselves out to be something they are not. I would never ever come here had I known what i know now nor can i recommend this school to anyone. |
