Small campus, somewhat diverse, very nice people (students & staff), very safe environment. Extracurricular activities (especially athletics) lack. Greek Life is very fun, BUT Student/athletes are discouraged from Greek Life…but Coaches don't tell you that, (legally they cannot). When coaching staff becomes aware that one of their athletes is considering or pledging a Greek organization, they are abruptly removed from the team with no warning and are given bs reasons for their removal. Greek Life for athletes is secretly discouraged by most coaches, but since this school is a D3 school that does NOT offer athletic scholarships, coaches shouldn't be allowed to discourage their players from exploring other options outside of their sport as long as they are loyal to their commitment to their team. Extracurricular activities outside of your sport should be encouraged at any place of learning. Trying new activities in college should be a part of your college experience and life learning process. However it is not something that happens at Lakeland. |
