St. Mary's is a good school for you if:

Coming from a private school education I found the academics to be anything but challenging however some of my slacker friends barely passed. It is what you put into it. That said, I am seeking to transfer in my sophomore year for the chance at a more demanding education and a more meaningful degree. Additionally, take a look at each of the school's list of majors that you are applying to. If you are unsure about your future line of study, I recommend leaning towards the school with a broader list of options. St. Mary's covers all of the basic majors however does not delve into anything specific. Teachers are very nice and approachable, especially with a population of 1800 students and really no competition to get time with your teachers. (exceptions being in mathematics fields)
