Flagler College's beautiful campus initially attracted me to the school. The small class sizes were especially beneficial for my major (art) - the teachers were able to take the time to critique us individually. Though I didn't love every teacher in the program, I learned a great deal about the culture and business of design in general from all of them, because they all had real-world experience in their field of expertise. There is certainly a beach culture present on campus (it's a mile away) - a general laid-back sensibility that many perceive as lazy. But I always felt a comfortable level of competition from the talented "beach bums" surrounding me. And it's easy to make friends here from all different majors if you're a social person. And as with any college, your experience there is whatever you personally make of it. If you don't try hard to succeed, you won't. There are teachers that will push you to your limits and expect the most of every student, but they won't hold your hand through it. |
