Befkre I say anything, I would first off have to say that this choirs biggest problem is that it focuses on a few departments and leaves the rest of its departments in the dust. While the business, JMC, and education schools, the pre-health programs, and basketball are all given a lot of attention, advetised well, and fairly well funded, most of the other departments aren't. A lot of effort is spent convincing students to come to university instead of keeping them here as well.

Second, Everyone keeps saying that you shouldn't come to this school if you don't like drinking, which is false. If you don't like drinking you will once you come to this school because it's a prominent part of SBU culture. There aren't a huge amount of wild parties though, just a lot of people drinking in their rooms.

The people here are very nice (maybe because the alcohol binds people) but you have to go out of your way to find your niche. A lot of people bond with people in their major, but this is difficult if you are a bio major as many drop out or transfer if they arent in a pre-health program within the first two years. This can leave you with no friends in your major by your junior year if you stick it out. Professors in many departments department are also constantly having to be replaced; we haven't had the same genetics professor for three years, so that makes it hard to make connections with them as well.

The CPRC is again filled with nice people, but unless you're are a business or JMC major, you won't get any relevant help. This makes sense however, as the school's primary focus is JMC and business, as well as education which is very good at getting students into teaching rotations.

This school is a great place. The basketball games are always packed and the student sections is one of the most enthusiastic out there, it's not hard to find entertainment as people make it sound, and there are a lot of clubs present on campus. But even though you are a name and not a number, it is hard to get involved in some departments unless you know people.

I probably would go to SBU had I had the choice, but I would major in JMC, business, education, or even English as the university is well known for that as well.
