My wife and I both graduated from CBU 30 years ago, and two of our children will start there in the next semester or two. Private colleges are flat-out expensive and it is very hard to justify the cost on the basis of what job/career opportunities will be available. If you want to punch the ticket, get the paper on the wall, learn basic job skills, and get a job for the least money spent, don't even think of going to a private liberal arts college like CBU (unless you have wealthy people paying your way). On the other hand, if you are going to college to become a mature, deep thinking, compassionate leader who is driven to make a difference in the world, it is hard to justify going anywhere else. You must ask yourself what "education" means now that you have to pay for it. If education is job training, get it at a state college and don't "judge" yourself for being practical. However, if you want to meet professors who will change your life, take classes that will alter your worldview, roll up your sleeves and work in a foreign country, bond with idealistic friends you will know for the rest of your life, and be prepared for leadership that will absolutely bless the lives of thousands of people, then spend the money and get the education that empowers leaders. I became an Army officer immediately after I graduated (CBU has a good ROTC program), my wife became a very innovative teacher pushing for massive education reform, and our best friend is now close to becoming a General. There is the quest for money, and there is the quest for your life to have meaning and impact. Choose wisely.
