UTEP is probably the worst school in the United States of America. Let's start off with the social life. The social life does not exist here at UTEP. Everybody is very mean, unapproachable, closed minded, ignorant, and very rude. I say very mean because once I just hung out by myself and this guy called me, "antisocial" and laughed at me. Closed minded because nobody wants to make friends with someone outside their clique they have had since Pre K. You try to make friends in this horrible school and you will fail at it. Unapproachable because everyone does not smile or look happy. Nobody wants to to be approached. Not even a simple "hello" will work. You will get ignored. Very rude because if you even talk to someone, you will get a rude reaction. This school is also full of the most judgmental people in the United States. You can not do anything without being stared at like your some alien from another Universe. People will judge you. Even something as sitting in the Union alone, people do laugh at you and stare at you. I've been to Boston and to Boston University and to New York City, and by far, hands down, El Paso and UTEP have the rudest people in the United States of America. It's far worse here than even in Miami.

The academics here are horrible. Not only are they hard and not doable, but the professors are very bad. They do not know how to teach and usually very unapproachable. The work here is very hard. Comparing UTEP to Texas Tech, Texas Tech is an easier University academically. UTEP has to be the 4th hardest University in the United States. The exams are not what you study. You have to apply knowledge from as far back as 2nd and 3rd grade. The academics feel like busy work. All exams and less papers.

The faculty and staff here are so rude, mean, and very unhelpful. They are so unapproachable. You can not approach any faculty and staff without getting a rude reaction. I once called to ask about a class, just a simple question, and the secretary acted really mean and rude. Comparing the staff with the staff at Boston University, Boston University has far nicer and friendlier staff.

Everything is so overpriced. A bottle of water costs $5.00. A meal costs $15 at some food places here on campus. At Quiznos, you get charged for extra mustard or extra anything. The vending machines are always 95% of the time broken. I got charged $16 for trying to get a drink, and I never got a refund. That vending machine was broken. Also, if someone is near and they see you struggling with the outdated vending machines from the 70s, you will get laughed at.

The city of El Paso is a horrible city. Nobody likes El Paso. Everybody at UTEP hates where they are and hates El Paso. This place is a huge dump. It's old, dirty, full of rude people ruder than in New York or even in Boston, it's a city where making friends is impossible, and it's just hell. The air pollution is worse than in any of the Texas cities. There is nothing much to do, unless you have friends. I came to UTEP thinking I would make friends, but I am so friendless and so lonely. Not to mention too, all the group entertainment here like bars and clubbing are cliquish. You won't meet any new people at a bar or at a club here. All the girls are taken at a club. Speaking of which, if you are going to UTEP to meet a beautiful Mexican girl, think again. The girls at UTEP and in El Paso are the most stuck up in the United States. You won't meet your special someone, unless if your a girl, then there are plenty of guys to go around. I've been to events where I am the only single guy at this horrible place.

Please anyone who wants to go to UTEP, please don't come here. Even UTPA in The Valley and Texas A&M International in Laredo are friendlier schools than UTEP. If you want Mexican culture, go to the South border. It's better there.
