I don't know where to start I've never seen a more unprofessional place in my life. To start most of the courses you take for you generals or AA degree are bogus like most universities you can complete them will little to no effort and the party life is OK. Once i decided a major I picked chemistry in the science department. First off the department is riddled with teachers who should not be teachers at all they spend more time in there labs researching then actually helping the students. the rest of them are rude and could care less if you actually pass or not just looking for a paycheck. At one point 8 students including myself went to the assistant dean for the biochemistry teacher. She would verbally yell at you and ignore your questions if she didnt like you. Another teacher told me to drop his class after i told him I had a full time job that was paying for me to live in Mankato and go to school there "I am only paid to teach the class once I will not regurgitate what I said". The same teacher would also call himself devious and evil just completely full of himself. these were some of the teachers i experience i heard many other bad statements from other students about different teachers. Another bad part once you get past like 200 classes there are no tutors for any other chemistry course so you have to go to office hours. Which always has lines of students with questions so you spend more time actually waiting for the teacher then getting help, because they only have a limited amount of time and need to get through everyone. Lastly once i started the degree in chemistry I never saw 1 class that was about a 60% test average some teachers had to go as far as to drop the class average to a 60% for a C and that was in biology, physics, and chemistry. For biology courses I had to take for the degree I experienced the same problems as in my chemistry course. I remember in physics 211 our first lab practical out of 30 students 1 person got a C another got a D and the rest were F no curve extra credit or anything. Then in physics 212 gave no direction for questions he just said study everything so you pretty much had to throw darts at the book and hope you studied the right stuff. Overall Im very disappoint-ted in myself for trying to stick it out for so long at that campus and was my time and money there. None of this stuff is made up these are all things and events that i experienced at that campus. If you still wish to go here you will see for yourself what this place has to offer which is absolutely nothing but high tuition costs, outrageous housing prices, tickets from anything everything you can think of from the mankato police the town its doesn't care about the college students just want your money like the campus. OK im done ranting but this all real like said if you still want to come and see all this for yourself up to you. |
