I graduated 33 years ago and I'll speak to Oberlin and the job market. Oberlin offers a great liberal arts education, but lots of opportunity to groom yourself for the job market should you choose to take advantage of it. Oberlin's "winter term" is basically the month of January that you use for independent projects or experiences. I used all of mine for things like language study and internships, and consequently landed a decent job in enviro science right out of college. I also took a year off between sophomore and junior year to do other internships, which helped. A degree from a liberal arts college does NOT have to be synonymous with "unemployable". My degree was in biology and almost every job I've ever gotten since Oberlin was offered to me in part because of my biology degree - including elementary ed teacher and now English professor. (they felt my science background would be helpful in teaching interdisciplinary writing classes and it made me unique from other wanna-be English teachers.
