I am from the north and intentionally decided to attend an HBCU, and I am glad that I did. HBCU's are important for minorities to learn about their history and how to be successful in White society, Savannah State provided through education in that aspect. Savannah St. is a growing University as such there are often changes which may appear to be unorganized, for example in the Biology department we have the largest class size with the smallest faculty members, despite the latter I have always felt like an individual to each and every one of my professors. Professors will go above and beyond to help their students in aspects of education, networking and job placement. Savannah State is a also a great university because of its location, being close to Tybee Island, Hilton head, and of course Downtown Savannah, which unlike most Universities, Savannah is NOT just a college town, meaning that there are endless aspects to explore fostering a great social life. Speaking of social life, Savannah State has unique sororities and fraternities, including all of the Divine Nine NPHC. Savannah State is a University that cares about its students and their success. |
