First of all, I was a 3.8 GPA student and received either a Presidents award or Deans award every semester for my grades while attending. The classes did not adequately prepare me for the real world job expectations. I received no assistance in finding a job and it took me nearly a year to find my first Graphic Design job by myself. My final 2004 year was extended because it was the first year they offered HTML and Flash classes, prolonging my graduation date. At least half of my classes were taught by teachers that barely knew the subject matter. The largest issue I have had with Eagle Gate, is the main office employees. Every semester, I would have to go in because they messed something up and need my information again. This always ended with my tuition going up. Once finding my first Graphic Design job boss let me go after 3 months, informing me that he would never hire anyone from Eagle Gate again. The biggest problem was the lack of HTML knowledge and no knowledge of CSS. After going through a filler job while trying to get back into the Graphic Design field, I went back to the EGC Murray campus to ask about taking classes in CSS. I was informed that CSS wasn't an industry standard and wouldn't be offered. Every job I applied for required knowledge of CSS and some knowledge of PHP. Talk about a deer in the headlights look when I mentioned PHP. I feel that I did have a few great instructors, however the the curriculum layout was poorly put together and all of the promises of helping students find jobs after they graduated was a load of crap. I'm still trying to pay off my tuition 12 years later.Do yourself a favor and avoid Eagle Gate College. |
