I would say computer science at fdu is very outdated, decadent, unhelpful and really useless when you're looking for a job in the so called ''real world'. We have arrogant professors who insist and pressure that a certain way of programming is legit, but after seeing how professors who are very inept like Carol Greff and Joanne Mitchell, things can go downhill. These are professors who kept making a lot of coding and compiling mistakes and at the same time they had the nerve to give students C's and D's just because students didnt get their brilliant teachings. Actually, they pressure students taking courses they want you to take and some of those subjects are useless and wont count for your graduation. Also there was a guy named Norman landis, he was the worst data structures teacher Computer Science faculty had. Some students discovered they could not fire him because he was in tenure status , so he can basically troll and make fun of people left and right, which was rather unfair. There's students that came to learn from zero the computer science , the whole experience was a waste of money as the lectures were just a bunch of introductory courses that appreciate the subject but don't really cover the actual precise processes and methods of programming and its different languages. I can go on and on detailing how bad was UML, C++ , C sharp, Network Computing, was because none really helped me prepare for a CNNA , Microsoft certification, Oracle database (Harvey Lowy was just bad), and even when you found books outside their recommended fields, they would denounce it and make you feel guilty. Campus life is boring, limited, unpleasant and lacks diversity. The so called "global education" by the dead president Adams is unclear, you can pretty much see irate professors who are unhappy how they ended up at teaching and international students in just about any other university or college one applies. Nothing unique about FDU, really. |
