I went to Hamline for my Freshman year and the first semester of Sophomore year; I am transferring to Madison in the spring. It isn't a terrible school, but if you are a computer science major or in a technical field of any sort then DO NOT COME HERE. Their computer science programthat they raved about on the tours turned out to be nonexistent and I had to take classes at other private colleges in the area in order to finish my major. The faculty is there for you, but to the point I felt constantly babysat my first semester there (thank god they toned it down after that semester). They don't have many options for clubs if you aren't an activist; just about every club is some sort of volunteer work club or a politically charged change club or something to that effect. Speaking of politics, Hamline is very politically correct. No, you don't understand. If you refer to a person who looks like a guy as "him", chances are that the person prefers female pronouns and you need to stop assuming gender. It's basically tumblr gone bad. If you are republican or have republican views, DO NOT TELL ANYONE HERE, you may as well be Hitler. Freedom of speech and Hamline do not mix well.If you want to go to a school that babysits you, keeps you in a safe space free of challenging thought, and you don't want any major having to do with engineering or sciences, then Hamline is the school for you. |
