Linfield College was not my first choice but after receiving an extremely generous financial aid offer from them, I decided it was much too good to pass up. I will divide the following review into pros and cons.

Pros

  • They do an excellent job at matching you with a roommate. My roommate and I got along extremely well and although we both don't attend the university anymore are still great friends.
  • The faculty has office hours and make themselves available to you. I have had professors go out of their way for me.
  • Small class sizes are a plus, I didn't have any class with more than 18 people.
  • Cons

  • McMinnville, is a terrible location for a college. I was out of state with no car so I was unable to go anymore. The public transportation is certainly lacking. Despite Linfield being close to downtown it was quite far from larger stores such as Walmart.
  • The population of Linfield was largely homogenous. As being a minority from a diverse area of the country it came to a shock. In addition the student body was very conservative minus a few people.
  • Many students had cars and the campus would become dead on the weekend from students going out or going home.
  • The food is awful. I have gotten sick multiple times from it. There are only three places to eat: the main dining hall dillin, wildcat express, and starbucks. The hours on campus are really weird and off especially on the weekends.
  • Freshman are made to have the unlimited meal plan first semester, I found this unnecessary.
  • The fraternities had houses yet the sororities didn't. I found this quite odd.
