Norfolk State University is a terrible school. The school is unorganized and doesn't care to accommodate their students. They are more concerned about numbers and funding. Half way through my degree they we up to lose accreditation due to many financial issues. It's great to have that stress on the road to graduation. The teachers are constantly contradicting each other. They do NOT follow the mission of the program. Many have told us that everything we have learned in the program is wrong. Which makes it confusing and difficult to complete courses when we are given different information and constantly having to battle which is right and which is wrong. Many of the teachers are not clear on directions or what is expected for the class/assignments. When there is an issues they will blame an entire class instead of exploring issues with their methods. When confronted with the issues they will argue with you and just tell you to go to a higher up. Going to the higher ups does nothing, because they let teachers teach the class the way they want. Syllabus are always out of date and from previous years. They are not revised each semester. If you are not black than nothing you say matters. You are talked down on and attacked especially if you do not agree with something. When there is debates there is no open mindedness, critical thinking, or respect for anyone. Teachers have no control of their classrooms and will allow other student to be verbally attacked with complete disregard to their feelings. The teachers will provoke conversations that lead to arguments. Graduation speakers spoke about topics that were not appropriate for a graduation ceremony.
