I come from out of state and had no connection to UNM or New Mexico prior to being a student there. I love going to UNM, although I could understand why someone may not have the same feeling. UNM is not the most "traditional" college experience, it definitely has some unique qualities. The problem I see with a lot of students, especially those from Albuquerque, is that they are overly critical of UNM and complain about throngs that are pretty dumb. To have a great time at UNM, you really need to put yourself out there, because the environment itself will not automatically serve all of your needs, but if you really try, you can have an amazing experience. It is so freakin easy to get involved here, there is a place for everyone, and it is so easy to become a student leader because of all the opportunities that people don't know about. I would recommend UNM to anyone who wants to go to a place that is very laid back, kind, full of genuine people, and really fun of you try. |
