Averett University is a really nice place to go to college. The staff are incredibly helpful and will get you moving in the right direction. The classes require you to study but they will not ruin your life by keeping you stuck in a book 7 days a week. The area has a good social scene and is affordable. You can go to AU and not enter into a life time of debt just to get an accredited degree. When you factor in all the costs (gas, food, books, tuition, etc, etc) AU is less expensive than just about any competing university. They have a ton of financial aid but you have to apply before they help you with it (gotta fill out FAFSA - seriously!) The overall campus is well maintained but some of the buildings are a bit old. They just built a new stadium and the sports program is getting to be very good. The teacher education and computer departments are standouts. The only courses I found a waste of time were core classes like theater. Overall it is a good deal. B+ or A- only because the school has some duds here and there. |
