I just finished my freshman year and can honestly say that it was the best year of my life. The best part of Villanova is the sense of community. Students go out of their way to hold doors open for you. Students are friendly and very involved. Many clubs and activities are very exclusive and competitive to get into. Most people have to try many times to become an OC or join Blue Key, the tour guide society on campus. The social life is vibrant, but do not expect this to be a party school. We do not have fraternity or sorority houses on campus and it can be challenging to get rides at times. I love being so close to Philadelphia and the train on campus makes transportation very convenient. As for the academics, students here definitely follow the work hard, play hard motto. Coursework is challenging and competition within the classroom is present to a high degree. Do not expect to breeze through any of your classes. The faculty want to see you succeed and I had no issues getting outside help in my classes. And last but not least, enter the lottery for all basketball games. School spirit is huge here. Everyone is always excited to go to the games, especially after we won the championship. Going to this school was the best decision I've ever made.
