The experience I had will not be what you will have. I graduated from ECUAD with a degree in Illustration (it's still a very new degree and basically we were early testers). The teachers in the Illustration department were passionate, helpful and invested in their students. They wanted to open up our minds, show us opportunities and show us what exists outside Vancouver. They successfully built one of the most interesting Illustration programs in Canada. But the don't teach at ECUAD anymore. In fact they left the school and got better jobs elsewhere, right around when I graduated. Why? Because they were treated poorly and had to really fight to teach the materials they wanted to teach. The higher ups were extremely self involved, had no interest in what the Illustration were teaching (but denied them from teaching a Women in Illustration course or a Comic class because they were "too specific") and eventually cancelled educational trips to NY and LA due to "potential immigration risks" for International students despite how careful and methodically these trips were planned. So if you go to ECUAD for Illustration you will now get a sub-par educational experience (I know because after graduating an Art Theory teacher lamented that he'd been assigned an Illustration course despite having no experience in that field). It's a shame. I will say that the printmaking course is excellent, very hands on and the faculty are good. The animation course also seems to be pretty good too (might depend on what your peers are like though as you all will spend a lot of time together), I only took two of the classes but the faculty I had were excellent. Also I was at the old campus- the one on Granville Island, never seen the new one as they kept changing the move in date.
