There was poor advising from the beginning of the firs year. There was not a clear direction for what I should be registering for, and not guidance about the degree I stated I was seeking. The science department and math department, both very crucial for my degree, had instructors who did not speak English as a first language so understanding content was difficult and I felt as though I was teaching myself much of the information. The TA in each class did speak English, but were arrogant, unhelpful, and not readily avaialble. Even when attending study sessions, I often left feeling as though it was a waste of my time and I still had unanswered questions. I did expect the degree path of the sciences to be challengeing, but also fully expeced that when I needed help and sought it out, that it would be avaialble and helpful. It was not on both accounts. |
