There are some social life going on with certain group of students. They are the popular kids at school because the professors like their work and they get a lot of exposure. Other groups are the ones that knew each other before coming to school. So if you don't know anyone before coming to school, good luck making real friends. Some people say you are competing with yourself in this school. I don't agree because if that's only one spot for a job, your classmates are your potiential competitions. And if the professors like you, they will give you special treatments. If you are just an average student, you sometimes get put aside because you are not special. The professors subconsciously create a toxic environment for the students. It's a competitive school and students are judgmental and talk about each other behind each other's back. The students are very smart and inspiring, but art and design can be very subjective. The school likes minimalistic asthetic because that's considered mainstream and the industry likes it. Most of the students in ArtCenter don't get enough sleep. They sleep in their car, at school's sofa/table/floor, and sometimes in class. They always pull all nighter. Who has the time to socialize when you don't even have time to sleep and even shower? And yes, some students smell because they don't have time to shower. |
