I would absolutely not recommend the Kissimmee Florida Technical College campus. I don't know about the other campuses, but I have heard they're all disorganized. I was in the cosmetology program. The professors did not want to teach. They constantly lost the students' paperwork. Many days were spent with the professor talking about completely unrelated subjects for six hours. The professors were constantly late coming back to class from breaks. Now that I am working in a salon, I realize so much of what the professors taught me is wrong. It's embarrassing how little I was taught about my craft. Some of the professors told the students we needed to teach ourselves certain subjects because they had no interest in it. Most of the time, other students were actually the ones teaching me things if they had prior knowledge before entering the program. There were no substitute professors, so if our professor was absent, we had to spend the day with another class that was not learning what we were learning. The school salon was very rarely stocked with supplies we needed to learn, such as bleach, towels, relaxer, color, and certain cleaning supplies. We should have received about a week's worth of training in men's cuts, and instead we received four hours. The professors insisted on knowing why we were absent, but when we gave our reason, it did not excuse us from work or credit hours missed. The parking lot is so small, it can't possibly fit all of the students. But when we would try to park in the mall parking lot, we would receive a ticket. Overall, I definitely regret attending this school. I feel I wasted my money, and I feel terrible for all the future students whom are counting on this establishment to help them succeed. I really hope this place closes soon. Or that the professors attend training to become better teachers. If you can, please avoid coming here for any program, not just cosmetology.
