Not sure why UPJ is getting a bad rap. Be honest, it is what it is…a small school in a rural area that happens to be in close proximity to a once larger urban area. Yes, the surrounding area is rural and not aways "fun." Yes, there aren't a lot of raging weekend parties. Sure, diversity is not UPJ's strong suit. If you want fun, parties, diversity, and open minded people, go to Berkeley or Columbia, don't expect to go to the middle of Trump country and find a unicorn. I was not a local student so it wasn't 13th grade for me. My professors were great, classes were small, dining hall food was good. I'm not the stereotype that many people on here have of folks from the area, but I'm not really, really liberal either…regardless, students were friendly and welcoming. I would recommend UPJ to anyone, but I would also point out that it is what it is. If you know this going in, it won't be a miserable experience because you wouldn't have applied there in the first place. |
