Oglethorpe University is a gem. I was a part of the Adult Student Program and was very pleased. The program is offered at night and in 8 week sessions. Its extremely convenient for adult or returning student who work and have many responsibilities. Classes are offered in the evenings 6-810pm and 820-10:30 (professors usually wrap up around 10). Its convenient because you can take 16 courses a semester like a traditional student, but 2 at a time in 8 week sessions. If you work really hard, you can finish early by doing the same thing through the summers.

Required classes are a little hard to rely on in the evening. For example, I had to take one of my requirements during the day because I didnt want to wait until it was offered again.

Faculty has been responsive and helpful each time Ive needed assistance. Professors are knowledgeable and approachable. Some night courses are taught by adjuncts mainly because of the time but youll see your program director alot.

Ive enjoyed my time at Oglethorpe and really believe its a great option for older people to go back to school after work and have genuine college experience but in the evening among their colleagues and more profession mature students.

The campus is neat and safe located in an upper class suburb of Atlanta, not far from Buckhead. Gothic aesthetic and beautifully kept up. Some buildings could use a little remodeling but the newest additions to the campus are outstanding.

I feel Ive received a great opportunity and genuine education at Oglethorpe even though I am a somewhat non traditional student. I recommend it to older students who feel online for profit school are their only options.
