CWRU gets a mixed review and I definitely agree. The c/o 2016 mech e reviewer's review is the most candid and personally relatable. As a nursing major, there are only a couple GEs to take outside of the nursing classes. I didn't realize how much I would miss seeing the rest of the campus until I had classes with the same 50 people from 8a-5p (on certain days) in the same building away from where the other people (literally all other majors) were. But given that CWRU BSN is a direct-entry program, there's really no cut-throat competition. You can often see collaboration among the students and faculty is generally responsive and helpful. This, however, does not mean that the professors are generous with giving back points. Quite a number of my nursing professors have been extremely stingy with giving back exam points (despite giving textbook and research proofs). But the best part about the BSN program is that clinicals start first semester of freshman year. This not only gives plenty of experience for those who are in nursing for certain but also gives people who are unsure an opportunity to experience nursing and make the quick switch if they decide to and waste less time.

Classes (especially nursing classes) are worth more credit hours than any other classes in other majors (ex. med-surg is worth 5 credit hours, jfc. There goes your GPA if you get anything B or below)

Campus security honestly isn't that great. CWRU's located at the edge of East Cleveland, meaning that it can be quite sketch. Use common sense and don't travel alone at night. Plenty of muggings for laptops/phones/money happen at practically any time of the day/night.

Social life is truly what you make of it. Nursing-specific, cliques definitely do happen. As for the rest of the campus in general, cliques do kind of happen. It's almost like high school again but there's a sweet and cute mix of the high school "popular" and "average" kids in the same friend group, which is astonishing. But pretty much after freshman year, the friend group you're in (if you're in one) is the one you'll stay in until graduation for as long as you don't fight with them. There's not too much campus life so people just hang out in each others' apartments/ suites.

Overall campus vibe is left-wing, liberal, diversity-inclusive but not as intense in those matters as some tree-hugging UC Berkeley. People are pretty accepting and inclusive. For a lot of these folks, Case is their "second choice". So there's a lot of snootiness and "I got waitlisted at ____ but just came here for the financial aid" until some of the aforementioned pre-meds' ochem, biochem, and physics classes come rolling around and they start racking up Bs and Cs and cry.

Also as a nursing student, don't expect some crazy straight-As all four years. Not going to happen. For those who have difficulties with memorization, anatomy and physiology may destroy you and you may get a grade that you have never seen before. Don't lose hope. Or just switch majors fast before you waste too much time on classes you can't get credit for as a different major. Nursing is truly a major that isn't just

I'll do this for money because job security and money

Dining hall food isn't phenomenal but it also isn't as terrible as the students say. Case people have a tendency to need to complain about anything and the dining halls tend to be the biggest target. It's honestly fairly decent, folks.

Everything at Case is good or bad depending on what you make of it. Personally, I'd go to Case again if I were to choose.
