Worst place ever. Department really went down hill over the course of my stay. Many students transfer out or drop out during the first or second year. Designer major students usually transfer in from NOVA (community college) and end up hating it. Professors Jean and Robin are the worst professors I have ever encountered. From being rude and not understanding, to making students cry and telling them they should not be in this major. Jean only cares about her Materials course and not her studio courses. She is a hard grader and excepts her undergrads to preform at a graduate level which is ridiculous. Robin only cares about her students if they bring her coffee and become buddies with her. She has a graphic design background and is headed to oversea the fashion design department, so she has no clue what she's doing and is rude to students if they don't understand/know something. Robin excepts her students to know everything about design. She always tells students they are wrong no matter what - its her way or the highway. And Doug (the department's chair/advisor) does not care about the students or their success and only helps those who suck up to him. This place was a huge waste of money. I ended up teaching myself more than my professors. In the end I started to hate my major, classmates and professors - ultimately I hate the school. Go to VCU. This place only cares about their accreditation which should not been given due to the way they treat their students.
