Health Science programs are competitve to say the least. They are supposed to be "points" based but they do not follow their own rules when it comes to that. There is limited access in medical field programs. In my program the first semester teacher is rude and unhelpful. And plainly put DO NOT FILL OUT end of course reviews!!! It will be taken out on you the following semester! The sites are a whole nother issue. Going into ANY health science program you need to understand that YOU NEED TO COVER YOUR REAR END!! The sites will leave you to hang out to dry and are not welcoming or helpful to students. Stay to yourself, eat your lunch separate, and DO NOT TRUST ANYONE! You will be told that you can call a list of people if you need help…I REPEAT DO NOT! It will only make things worse!! HGTC has a college first mentality and you will be thrown under the bus if anyone finds themselves in trouble. Basically if you want to go into the field I highly recommend finding another school! Or get ready to pay to be treated like crap and expected to tolerate disrespect, slander, and bullying. These people do not want you making it out of the program as that would mean they couldn't be lazy in their PAID field anymore. Learn everything and read the book and whatever you can get your hands on outside of class! Watch videos cause they are going to expect you to know it the very first day! Expect to have to come out of pocket to pay for whatever your clinical instructor desires. Overall…I don't recommend this school if your dream is to be a nurse, sonographer, etc. They will KILL your dream!
