Because LFC is a small school, I had easy access to all my professors. Also, it gave me the opportunity to complete undergraduate research the summer after my first year and continue to do research throughout my time here. Working in a lab is something that is much harder to do at a larger university with limited space. Additionally, you can do up to three for-credit internships and I would highly recommend doing so! Not only does it give you great experience, but it is not too difficult to set up either! I have found the career advancement center to be more than helpful with assisting me in locating and setting up internships.

I personally love the biology department in particular as all the professors are super helpful and encouraging! They also tend to be enthusiastic about the courses they teach. Biology at LFC tends to be more collaboration focused as oppose to competitive like some of the other science programs here. Furthermore, we have a new science building here with updated facilities which has been extremely nice!

The food quality used to be subpar but we recently switched providers and the quality has improved overall.

As far as the student body, I have felt super welcome here. The community is fairly close knit as it is such a small school. Also, people tend to be fairly accepting and friendly here.

However, not every student may like it here. Some students may prefer the feel of a larger university instead. Night life is not the best as the town is quite small. Some students do go to Chicago on weekends though it usually ends up being a whole day event. Additionally, some of the dorms could use some updating though Moore and Deerpath are okay.
