Arkansas College offered a superior education in the 90s because the professors were the best. Sadly, poor retention and scandal caused these people to leave. Keeping alumni in the dark about the scandal only distanced us from the school, which then looked dishonest or secretive. We WERE ALL TALKING ABOUT THE INCIDENT! Having bone-headed and inflexible administrators also didn't help. Talking to students as if they were stupid was a big issue. A certain residence director (Jeffries, I think) was the most hateful and incompetent. Then, having socially backwards policies was inane. I had two lesbians staying together overnight above my room (could hear ALL of it) but I was sanctioned for having a male in my room to study calculus past 10 PM. Socially unaware and completely biased were the policies at that time. STUPID. |
