I was very unhappy with my experience at Eastwick College OTA program. I found the staff to be unhelpful and uncaring. I was placed in fieldwork settings where my supervisors did not give me adequate guidance or mentoring to succeed. All they cared about was for me to cover their schedule, and I felt that I did not have the skills to safely manage their caseload. I also had an abusive supervisor who verbally attacked me. Eastwick staff were unwilling to help me out or offer support, and instead blamed me and threatened to throw me out of the program if I did not complete my placements. I was highly frustrated that this program does not support their students. Unfortunately, I know several bright motivated good students who had this same experience. I also felt that i did not learn the proper knowledge I needed to succeed. The coursework needs to be updated with more information to prepare the students for the real world. My advice to the college is to do research into fieldwork settings and supervisors before placing students. In the event that a situation like mine happens, the staff needs to be there to assist the student and find a new placement that will foster growth and success. I am terribly disappointed with my experience.
