This is specific to the dental hygiene program at ccbc dundalk. For all future applicants, try to get in somewhere else first. This is a bottom of the barrel school with bottom of the barrel teachers. Some are okay, but it's a group of worn out hygienists that are just there to collect paychecks. Most of the classes are taught by one possibly bipolar professor that honestly shouldn't even be teaching. She is knowledgable, but her attitude towards students and personal issues completely overshadows her worth as a teacher. As a professional institute, one would think that people there would behave with professionalism. Exams are worded strangely and sometimes answers dont even match up in the book. The only people who really pass are those that have answers from previous students. Their matriculation is under 50% for a reason, horrible instructors. They dont care because even if a student fails, they still get paid. On top of that the schedule changes randomly with no warning, to which you are just expected to oblige. The clinic is a joke, it's basically just blatant favoritism from faculty members. Youre expected to bring your own patients and now the school is raising prices for cleanings as if it's not difficult enough to get people to come. Dont even waste your time asking for help, because the faculty is useless. Most likely you'll be heckled by one faculty that is a loud mouth know it all. Your best bet is to solely rely on your peers. Youre also expected to pay for all your equipment despite bringing money into the program through patients. It ends up costing over 5k in the time youre there. Hygiene is definitely a good career path, but this would be the last place I'd advise someone to go to. The program will probably get shut down at some point due to lousy professors resulting in a horrible retention rate.
