CSU is the cheapest and probably easiest school to get into in CALI so naturally it attracts average students with average families. CSULB is typical for a large suburban school. Its known for a few academic programs and not known for sports or greek like. Its also very close to the beach and less then an hour from LA and OC. Its a mix of commuters and on campus dwellers. Its a value school, like the other CSUs. UCs are of course harder and more expensive. CSU is focused on practical vocational training and many profs have worked in private industry. CSULB has some notable alumni. KIDS- I recommend 1. take HS equivalency test as a sophomore or junior and enroll in college. 2. Get 2 majors / double major, skip the minor, 3. Make at least one major a "hard" practical one like a STEM or at least a hard business field, or econ or stats. Consult charts on starting salaries per major. 4. Consider joining the military. It will pay for 100% of your schooling-either undergrad or grad school. FREE MONEY.
