I transferred from Arizona State University and can honestly tell you that UofA is much better in just about all aspects! Sure the school may be in the middle of nowhere, and Tucson may not be aesthetically pleasing, but there are plenty of hiking and biking trails along with plenty of other activities going on and not just on campus. There are also a lot of small businesses and locally owned restaurants. There's a lot of culture. As for the education itself, you simply get out what you put in. There are flaws in the system, but these are just as common at other universities too. I've also found people to be much more friendlier compared to my old school. There are resource centers for students of various backgrounds, and there's never been a day where I didn't feel welcome on campus. Some parties are exclusively for greeks, but there are other parties you can go to if you find them. I thought that my age would be a factor given that I'm in my mid-twenties, but I've had just as much fun and am here because I finally found my passion. There's a strong connection to the Native American community which makes this school and Tucson my home away from home! |
