As a freshman in 2001, this place was a dream. What a nightmare now. Buildings abandoned, literally A QUARTER of the student enrollment as back then, and the crime is pretty dark. What an absolute joke this place is now—Carman Hall, the largest dorm—abandoned for almost a decade now. They don't even mow the grass anymore. A campus and surrounding area that used to be BUZZING with social life is now dead. The greek houses along 4th street, etc are dead. The south end of campus has been left to rot. They closed off 7th street and made the campus a pain to navigate via vehicle. Beyond sad. Never go back if you have fond memories of your time here—I did, and seeing it was like seeing the rotted corpse of someone you used to love. RIP EIU
