I got several interviews off the name alone. Although Pep is in CA, most everyone is familiar with the school here in TX—not bad for a little school in Malibu. I was accepted at several Ivy schools, but chose Pepperdine because I felt confident that the QUALITY of education at Pep is superior. The academics were extremely challenging and rewarding. I was challenged to fully embrace ideas and concepts at their deepest levels—no fluff, no mushy-headed BS. The classes were exhaustingly rigorous, yet the results have been priceless. When I have compared notes with other friends who are college grads, I am amazed at how advanced my studies were compared to theirs—how comprehensive and complete.I will say this: If you are looking for a ultra-trendy, feel-good-touchy-feely academic experience then Pepperdine would not be for you. The professors DEMAND and EXPECT exceptional work in every class and will except no less. Perhaps even more stimulating is the fact that my fellow students were consistently brilliant and highly motivated. Thus, I would learn as much or more from my colleagues as I did from my profs. The many international students offered priceless alternative viewpoints and critiques. All in all, a fantastic place, fantastic people, and a superb education.Oh yeah, I almost forgot, some of the best surfing in the world is less than 5 minutes from campus—why is life so hard? |
