UCLA is a very prestigious school with aQuite BrightEconomics
UCLA is a very prestigious school with a diverse student body, excellent job recruiting, decent part scene, and beautiful LA campus, but it is seriously overcrowded, the administration bureaucracy is absolutely terrible, and the competition in all reasonably hard majors is cutthroat. There are almost always three ppl to each tiny dorm room and realistically the average student will have almost all huge classes (the number of small classes they advertise is misleading because you need tons of small classes to balance out one large class from the student perspective -the smallest class I've had in three years was a 60 person philosophy GE). Some professors try to help but the sheer quantity of students they have makes it hard, and many classes (especially math, science, econ) are specifically designed to weed students out of worthwhile majors and often have test averages below 50%. Class enrollment is a nightmare -you will likely only be able to get 2/4 classes you need each quarter. And I can't even describe the amount of bureaucratic bs I've had to go through, especially with the Registrar, Undergraduate counseling, and the Econ department -I guess this is what you sign up for at a public school, but still its like the DMV times 20. Also our football team sucks..

This has to be the worst university inQuite BrightEconomics
This has to be the worst university in America. No one in the administration or teaching staff does their job at this school. You can never get anyone on the phone and they treat every student as though you are worthless. If you want an inferior education and love being treated like an annoyance this might be the school for you, otherwise don't waste your time, money and talents. This is where talent and enthusiasm come to die.

UCLA is a beautiful campus.
-The majority of students are above average. (Bruin Brand)
-Attendance for most classes is optional.
-Personally I believe attending class is a waste of time. (since if I do study on my own, I get more done than the professor), but I am lazy so I dont really study until its finals week.

-Like what other comments said before, the majority of people here care more about their grades than they do the subject.

-Grading is done by a curve. i.e.
If you do bad, I do well.
-SIDE NOTE- To the people complaining about UCLA being highly competitive. You dont belong here, you should transfer.

-Class size for social science classes can reach 300 students, while my business classes are around 80 students.

Overall I personally believe the 10k tuition is not bad considering I will be paid more when I graduate.

UCLA education is not done well, as it is basically like a moviehouse but with a man at the front talking gibberish.

I do, however, learn a lot more but that is only out of necessity to get an A.
Overall, if you are moderately smart, and are motivated to study, you should be fine.
If you had to choose a trait, i say be smart
Grading pattern
Smart and Studious = A 20%
Smart = A to B 20%
Studious = B to C 50%
Uhh lol = D-F 10% of UCLA
The exams are both problem solving to the extreme and moderate memorization and a bit of luck.
You can work hard all you want but you wont get a 4.0.
