Pitzer is an interesting place. I would say that I love some part of the school while despising other parts. The classes can be as difficult as you want them to be. The professors range from amazing to terrible - ask around before taking classes. The social scene is fun but getting more strict and it gets old after a while. There are some great people here and that is a good reason to come out. Also the weather is awesome. If I had to do it all over again though, disregarding the friends I have made here, I am not sure it has been worth the 42,000 a year. The typical Pitzer student is either on a ton of aid or from an insanely wealthy family, so if you fall in the middle and the 42,000 is an issue, it sucks. Also, the facilities pale in comparison to the other Claremont Colleges. There definately could be worse places though. Socially, you will find somewhere to fit in and you will have a good time. Academically, the Pitzer diploma is getting to be more and more respectable (acceptance rates have dropped from 75% to 25% in the last 4 years.) You don't nessecarily need a car, but if you don't have one you had better have some friends with cars. The dorms are in shitty condition but they are really fun and offer innumerable oppurtunities for fun as well as education (lectures, art classes, karate, yoga.) If you are really interested in coming to Pitzer you should email me and I will give you my honest opinion about whether or not you should come.
