Overall: A
Dollar is a tough grader, especially when it comes to writing.  He will butcher what you thought was a well-written paper.  I got papers back with blotches of bloody red ink, but I became a better writer in the long run.  I ended up making a “B” in the course, but I think an “A” is obtainable for anyone if they put forth the effort.  I was somewhat lazy towards the end.

Should do to do well...
Strongly recommend that students keep all hand-outs Dollar gives you.  They are very helpful and easy to follow.  I wish I would've kept that thin little book on how to write well (the Strunk book).

Should know...
A student should put forth effort.  I was lazy and turned in some lazy work, and not surprisingly got a grade that reflected that.  This guy knows when you aren't putting any effort into your work.
