People are very friendly and kind; if you need help, they will genuinely help you instead of prank you. Students are hardworking and humble. There is a downside, however: There are very few people here who aren't majoring in some kind of professional area, and if you're not, expect to find it more difficult to get your social niche or people who like what you do if your interests are in that area. That being said, no one is going to hold it against you. There is a social life here, but finding time for it in between classes and homework is the hard part. EVERYTHING is competitive, but if you are naturally gifted or have good people skills (get to the know the professors well) you'll get what you want (I'm not one of those people so it is hard for me). Career Center is a nice tool, but when it comes to internships and co-ops the onus is on you. Certainly, there is a divide between engineering/science/med school students and liberal arts/business students, but I don't think one looks down on the other. I'm an engineer, but I admire my pre-law friend studying History, English, and Political science undergraduate degrees. Research opportunities are a plenty which most schools can't say. Take advantage when you find the time, it looks great on a resume.

Best advice I can give is come to Case if you are willing to work hard and want to be an Engineer, Medical professional, Business major, or graduate student. Liberal arts school here is good too, but not worth 28k-55k a year. Also, do your own searching for the right extra-curricular activities and socialization, and you will find what fits you. TIME MANAGEMENT IS IMPORTANT TOO!

The culture of Case is inexplainable because there really doesn't seem to be a "culture". Most students go to class and do academic extracurriculars. There is a significant imbalance of work and play and it doesn't have to be.
The best thing about Case is the power of it's name. But keep in mind, there are other schools with great names and an environment conducive to social growth. .

The work is crazy. If you are not ready to give 110%, everyday you are here, without exception, I suggest reconsidering. Expect to feel like you are not good enough, that your life will not go anywhere, and that you are generally worthless on a pretty regular basis. The professors make exams super difficult fully expecting at least half the class to fail. While this can make you fell horrible, they will curve it and you will probably do better with your final grades than you thought was possible given you test average.

I have not found the professors to be particularly helpful even when emailed or spoken to. Many do not have open office hours without appointments, and some will not return email.

While not abundant parties are generally good. If you plan on sleeping however do not attempt to go to more than 1 party a week. Missing one night of study time will probably put you three days behind schedule and you will spend the rest of the week paying for that.

Do get involved with any clubs you plan to join during the first week as it will be much harder to join later in the year.

On the upside Case looks excellent on a resume and if you can survive here you will be pretty set for surviving anything life throws at you.
