For the most part, this University is a hit-or-miss enterprise. Depending on which subject you decide to study, you may get to study and learn under brilliant faculty and be assisted in your learning process by administration that remembers that you, the student, are paying their salaries and hence are actually helpful.

Or you may choose a major where the faculty are indifferent to your intellectual advancement or are too wrapped up in their own research to care about mere undergrads and where the administration are overwhelmed by the number of students to provide any meaningful guidance or are bitter for some reason and are not helpful at all to students.

I know one of the popular defenses for large universities is that because they are so large and anonymous (believe what you hear - you ARE just a number here), you, the student, are forced to distinguish yourself from the rest of the pack. While I agree that applying yourself and manufacturing your own success are critical skills to learn for the rest of your life; often, you will succeed in spite of this University. If you are on here complaining about your education/social life/amenities, etc go out and do something about it. While you are sitting here ripping a university that has opened doors for thousands upon thousands of people, the students who get the most out of their time here are out meeting people, forming relationships, and figuring out where they want to go in life and ultimately end up happier and more in tune with the way life works outside of the comfort of university life. Since it is such a huge campus it may mean that you will need to take initiative in seeking out resources, academic help, career guidance, etc. But the great thing about its size is the number of opportunities, extracurricular activities, clubs, traditions, people, etc. There is something for every single student to get involved in something they feel passionate about, so get involved! Coming from a high quality college prep high school, most of the general education classes have been very easy but the upper level engineering classes have been very difficult. If you don't feel challenged enough, chose the honors route, which is comparable to the nation's top notch universities. Basically, there is a solution for any negative comment about OSU but it is up to the student to find his/her best fit and the resources to help them get past any disappointing aspects of the school. Don't get excited if you get admission to OSU. Seek info first about your intended college. Office of International Affairs are one of the slowest people on the world and even the academic advisers are extremely hard to reach. So when you write am e-mail to them expect an average wait-time of 2 weeks. As for the Business degree, you will have a lot of General subjects that need to be taken first. The main program is just 2 years in length. Housing on North Campus is the best. PLEASE DO NOT CHOOSE A QUAD SHARING ROOM. Campus dining services are good enough. Surrounding city is very very small with nothing to do. Once you leave campus its all over. If you are a party animal, get used to boring house parties with music played through "youtube" on a laptop. This university has a lot of students from a country background so... don't expect super-cute girls.
